Application Description

Through the collection and processing of unstructured as well as structured data, Business Intelligence (BI) tools improve productivity and enable our enterprise to make better business decisions each day. Configurable dashboards, data visualizations, reports, and metrics allow organizations to manage patient populations, analyze and benchmark clinical and operational performance, and monitor improvements for key areas of focus. BI tools such as Tableau are expected to connect and cross-pollinate data from applications including Epic Systems, Microsoft SQL databases, Oracle Databases, and cloud-based solutions such as AWS and Snowflake.

Job Overview:

The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for the overall success of enterprise data BI analytics solutions, development of dashboards, data visualizations, reports, and metrics across applications. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the administrative and operational functions of the BI developer team, creating policies, procedures, and standards for the enterprise related to dashboards, metadata models, ad hoc reports, and database development.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree or five (5) years of relevant work experience with Tableau
• Five (5) years managing business intelligence tools
• Two (2) years managing teams
• Three (3) years of large-scale project management experience
• Advanced SQL and Cloud-based technology knowledge for mining and manipulating large datasets
• Excellent communication, facilitation, project management, and leadership skills
• Strong assertiveness and conflict management skills
• Superior organizational and people management skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinical and administrative staff

Preferred:

• Education in Healthcare, Business, or Information Sciences
• Experience with SSMS, Snowflake
• Experience with Epic Systems and reporting tools

Essential Functions:

1) Strategic Development and Design

• Serve as the institutional expert on BI tools like Tableau
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to develop dashboards, data visualizations, reports, and database applications
• Promote best practices and teach leaders to analyze data effectively to improve revenue, workflow, and patient care
• Identify and address business challenges through frequent communication with leadership
• Analyze enterprise data against a gap analysis of future state
• Coordinate creation of reporting inventories and project plans
• Work with technical teams to validate infrastructure and manage system upgrades

2) Project Management

• Communicate project plans and report inventories
• Track team progress against milestones
• Ensure benefits are measured and quality is maintained
• Participate in change management processes
• Resolve issues promptly and escalate when necessary

3) Project Leadership

• Manage vendor relationships for BI tools
• Stay updated with industry trends through training and vendor groups
• Act as liaison between end-users, the BI team, and leadership
• Ensure project deliverables meet enterprise needs
• Facilitate communication to resolve issues and ensure proper involvement
• Document performance and foster a community around BI and analytics
