The Graphene Engineering & Innovation Centre (GEIC) is a new facility developed to establish the UK as a graphene research and technology ‘hub’ that will lead to the rapid commercialization of graphene and 2D technologies in the UK. The Institutes are part of an overall investment, building on the strong and rapidly-expanding UK research in this field, and aim to take this research through to commercial success. Funded through EPSRC and ERDF, they will offer access to specialist facilities and equipment, including state-of-the-art cleanrooms that enable the simulation of manufacturing processes. This world-class shared facility for graphene research and commercialization activities will be accessible by both researchers and businesses.
Applications are invited for the position of Applications Specialist, a full-time role. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to be involved in this exciting project from an early stage, in a field that is constantly growing and at the cutting edge of technology.
This role involves a variety of activities, including managing our state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities to the highest standards. You will work with applications teams in the 2D materials, membranes, & coatings laboratories, and collaborate effectively with GEIC technical support to deliver a first-class up-scale facility. You will provide health and safety services to world-class researchers, playing an important role in the timeliness and success of their experiments. Additionally, you will ensure that regular/annual inspection and reporting schedules are carried out in accordance with the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) expectations.
