Job summary

Protolabs in the United Kingdom is seeking an Application Engineer to deliver deep technical support and solutions to customers across the EMEA region. You will work with operations and sales to transform customer requirements into viable manufacturing solutions.

The role emphasizes CAD reading, design for manufacturing knowledge, and a customer-centric approach, with opportunities to participate in trade shows and webinars. A BA/BS in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related field.
• Experience with 3D CAD modelling and reading 2D CAD drawings.
• Experience or knowledge of plastic injection moulding, CNC machining or 3DP processes.
• Customer-centric approach and ability to meet defined metrics.
• Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth technical expertise and solutions to customers.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure viability of complex part proposals.
• Develop best practice methodologies for achieving customer requirements.
• Understand customer technical requirements and suggest design changes.
• Evaluate customer requirements to manage expectations and risks for projects.
• Review customer CAD data, DFMs, and RFQs and propose changes.
• Provide technical guidance to sales and customers on capabilities and limits.
• Balance customer requests with feasible fulfilment paths and deadlines.
• Coordinate with technical ops, contracts, quality and process engineering on projects.
• Support local trade shows, webinars, or live talks.
• Work with EMEA languages (French/English/German) where possible.
