Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6+ years’ experience (or master’s with 3+ years) or PhD.
  • Experience designing, simulating, and implementing control systems in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience developing simulation models for automotive and/or aerospace applications (or equivalent).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple technical projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Help automotive customers adopt MATLAB, Simulink and related tools.
  • Analyse customer models, workflows and challenges to improve productivity and developer experience.
  • Scope and propose projects and evaluations addressing pain points and enabling new technology adoption.
  • Advance automotive embedded software development by leveraging AI tools.
  • Deliver projects by solving demanding technical problems in modelling, simulation, control, estimation and software engineering.
  • Work with MathWorks development to advocate for customers to influence future product direction.

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will use your technical expertise in modelling, simulation, and programming to help UK and Northern European automotive engineers at major OEM and Formula 1™ accounts to have the most productive and enjoyable experience of using MathWorks tools. You will help them deliver incredible technology, and partner with them to solve their hardest engineering problems.

Responsibilities

Helping our largest automotive customers to be successful in their adoption of MATLAB, Simulink and related tools, enabling them to evolve and improve their productivity and developer experience by

  • Analysing customer models, tools and workflows at the team, department and organisation levels
  • Understanding the challenges and opportunites to improve that will impact their business
  • Scoping and proposing projects and evaluations that will address pain points and enable them to adopt new technology and methods
  • Advancing automotive embedded software development by leveraging AI tools
  • Delivering projects by solving demanding technical problems in modelling, simulation, control, estimation and software engineering
  • Working with MathWorks development to advocate for customers to influence the future direction of MathWorks products
Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or a PhD degree, or equivalent experience) is required.
Additional Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

  • Strong first degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience designing, simulating, and implementing control systems models in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience developing and using simulation models of mechanical and/or electrical systems for automotive and/or aerospace applications (or equivalent)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work on multiple technical projects concurrently

In addition, experience in the following areas will be advantageous:

  • Scoping and leading technical projects
  • Dev/Ops tools and technologies: configuring CI systems, cloud collaboration environments (e.g. GitLab), containers
  • Embedded software in C/C++
