Description

Build the digital solutions that power the future of rail.

East West Rail is a nationally significant railway project which aims to deliver much-needed transport connections for the vibrant communities between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. Together these communities contribute around £111 billion to the national economy each year.

EWR is one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, and is being championed by the Government as a key driver to economic growth leading to a potential £78 Billion boost to the UK economy: supporting new towns, housing, and regeneration.

To help deliver that vision, we’re looking for an Application Developer to join our growing Data Centre of Excellence (DCoE) team.

Role Summary:

Working closely with our Lead Power Platform Developer, you’ll design, develop and support business-critical applications using the latest Microsoft technologies, helping colleagues across EWR work smarter, faster and more effectively.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a developer who’s passionate about building modern Microsoft solutions and wants to play a key role in one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes.

What you’ll bring
  • Designing and developing applications using Power Platform, Dataverse, SharePoint, Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Building Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, integrations and APIs.
  • Creating bespoke solutions using technologies such as C#, .NET, React, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Working directly with stakeholders to understand business challenges and deliver practical digital solutions.
  • Supporting data integration, automation and analytics initiatives.
  • Driving best practice across security, governance, DevOps and application lifecycle management.
  • Providing support and continuous improvement for existing applications across the business.
What you’ll bring

You’ll bring experience in:

  • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse)
  • SharePoint Online development, including SPFx web parts
  • Azure services and cloud-based application development
  • APIs, integrations and automation across Microsoft technologies
  • Github, Azure DevOps and modern development practices
  • Translating business requirements into secure, scalable solutions.

You’ll be someone who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with stakeholders, and turning ideas into applications that deliver real business value.

Why join East West Rail?

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future digital landscape of a nationally significant infrastructure programme. You'll work with cutting-edge Microsoft technologies, collaborate with a highly skilled team, and have the freedom to build innovative solutions that make a tangible impact across the organisation.

  • Employee Assistance Programme for confidential support when you need it
  • Access to Perkbox for a wide range of discounts and wellbeing benefits
  • Recognition programme, including on-the-spot and annual awards
  • Advanced learning and development opportunities to help you grow.
