Job description

ERP Implementation Lead

Application Deadline: 20 September 2026

Department: Corporate Services

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Milton Keynes

Reporting To: Director of Finance

Description

East West Rail is a nationally significant railway project which aims to deliver much-needed transport connections for the vibrant communities between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. Together these communities contribute around £111 billion to the national economy each year.

EWR is one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, which the government committed to delivering in full in the Autumn 2024 Budget, and again in the 2025 Spending Review as part of its ambition to unlock the potential of the Oxford to Cambridge Growth Corridor.

EWR is being championed by the Government as a key driver to economic growth leading to a potential £78 Billion boost to the UK economy: supporting new towns, housing, and regeneration.

Drive a Major Enterprise Transformation

We’re embarking on a programme which will enable EWR Co to migrate to a modern, integrated ERP solution that will link Finance, Procurement, HR and Payroll as well as the wider construction programme. We are looking for an experienced ERP Implementation Lead to take the helm.

This is a high‑impact role for someone who has delivered multiple ERP programmes end‑to‑end and knows what it takes to move an organisation from ‘requirement identification’ to ‘go‑live’ and beyond. If you thrive in complex environments, can challenge constructively, and bring people with you through change, this is your opportunity to shape a transformation that will define our future.

Why this role matters

This is a rare opportunity to lead a transformation that will reshape how our organisation operates. You’ll influence strategic decisions, modernise critical systems, and help embed new ways of working that deliver measurable business benefits.

Team & reporting

You’ll initially report to the Director of Finance, with the line moving to a new Head of Transformation once appointed. While the role starts without direct reports, we expect the team to grow as the programme scales.

What you’ll lead
  • End‑to‑end delivery of our enterprise‑wide ERP implementation.
  • Programme planning, scheduling, budgeting and resource management.
  • Governance, reporting and assurance to senior leadership and boards.
  • Organisation‑wide process redesign and standardisation.
  • Stakeholder engagement across executive, operational and delivery teams.
  • Data migration, systems integration and testing oversight.
  • Cutover, go‑live and post‑implementation stabilisation.
  • Benefits realisation and performance tracking.
What you’ll bring
  • A track record of delivering several ERP implementations successfully.
  • Deep understanding of ERP methodologies and best practice.
  • Strong knowledge of Finance, Procurement, HR and Payroll processes.
  • Exceptional programme leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to challenge, influence and drive decision‑making.
  • Strong commercial, supplier and contract management capability.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
Desirable
  • MSP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ
  • Agile Project Management certification
  • Change Management qualification (Prosci, APMG or equivalent)
  • Relevant ERP vendor certifications
What we offer
  • Competitive salary that reflects your skills and experience
  • Up to 12% employer pension contribution to support your future
  • 36 days annual leave (including bank holidays) plus the option to buy up to 2 extra days
  • 2 volunteering days, a chance for you to give back to the community
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies to support you and your loved ones
  • Life assurance (4x your annual salary) for peace of mind
  • Employee Assistance Programme for confidential support when you need it
  • Access to Perkbox for a wide range of discounts and wellbeing benefits
  • Recognition programme, including on-the-spot and annual awards
  • Advanced learning and development opportunities to help you grow.
Diversity and Inclusion

At East West Railway Company, we’re committed to building an inclusive railway for all. We believe that to do that, we must nurture a diverse team that represents the UK communities that we impact. Our approach is simple - to create an environment where everyone is welcome and able to be themselves. If you want to connect lives and unlock the future, then we’d love to hear from you.
