Job summary

City College Peterborough – Alternative Provision & Study Skills Department is seeking a confident Multi‑Skills Maths & English Tutor to support learners in maths and English, across vocational areas, to build essential skills and independence.

You'll deliver engaging sessions, monitor progress, and contribute to department development, while promoting inclusion, resilience and learner confidence in a supportive, learner‑focused team.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Experience supporting learners with SEN is desirable.
• Confident delivery of GCSE and Functional Skills.
• Able to build supportive relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Maths and English sessions to a range of learners.
• Support learners to access curriculum across vocational areas.
• Monitor progress and record outcomes.

We are seeking a confident, motivated, and adaptable Multi‑Skills Maths & English Tutor to join our dedicated team. You'll play a vital role in helping learners build essential skills, develop independence, and reach their goals.

What will you be doing?

You will:

• Support students across all vocational areas to access the curriculum
• Promote inclusion, resilience, self-esteem, and independence
• Provide tailored support to meet a wide range of learner needs
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the department
• Deliver English and Maths sessions to learners with varying abilities
• Monitor progress, update ProMonitor, and contribute to EHCP outcomes

Ask yourself:

• Can you take initiative while showing empathy and understanding?
• Are you flexible in your approach and passionate about helping learners succeed?
• Do you hold GCSE Grade C/Level 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths?
• Do you have experience supporting young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)?
• Are you enthusiastic about delivering both GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications?
