Job summary

Disability North is seeking a friendly Personal Assistant in the Tadcaster area to help an animal-loving individual access the community and maintain independence. The role involves helping with outings, shopping and activities, with 6 hours per week and a pay rate of £13.79 per hour.

A driver with access to their own car is essential, and mileage is paid. The position offers flexible hours to fit study commitments and requires a compassionate, patient approach to support someone with a sight

Qualifications

• Friendly, patient and reliable
• Flexible with working hours to fit around commitments
• Comfortable around cats and dogs
• Understanding of sight impairment, or willing to learn how to support me
• Driver with full licence and access to own car – essential
• Confident supporting someone out and about in the community
• Willing to provide practical support with getting around and attending activities

Responsibilities

• Support me to go out for coffee, shopping and activities I enjoy
• Help me access shops, services and places in the community
• Provide transport to activities and appointments when needed
• Offer practical support with sight impairment while out and about
• Support me to build confidence and independence outside the home
• Provide friendly companionship and encouragement while respecting my choices
