Job summary

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking two qualified Anatomical Pathology Technicians to join our Mortuary Services team. You will support mortuary and post-mortem services and work with pathologists, coroners, funeral directors and healthcare professionals to uphold dignity for the deceased and their families.

Qualifications

• Two qualified Anatomical Pathology Technicians required.
• Experience with mortuary duties and post-mortem examinations preferred.
• Demonstrates professionalism, sensitivity and commitment to care and dignity for the deceased and relatives.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine and specialist mortuary duties and assist with post-mortem examinations, including high-risk cases and Virtopsys.
• Prepare, receive, store, and release deceased patients in accordance with local policies and legal requirements.
• Assist with body viewing arrangements and provide support to funeral directors and other service users.
• Support compliance with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulations and standards.
• Contribute to the maintenance and development of departmental SOPs, risk assessments, and quality standards.
• Train and support junior colleagues and nursing staff in mortuary practices and Care After Death procedures.
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota.
