Analytics Governance Technical Analyst (Contract)

Duration: 12 Months (Possibility for extension)

Location: London/Hybrid (2 days per week on site)

Rate: A highly competitive Umbrella Day Rate is available for suitable candidates

Role Profile

Are you passionate about governance and data? We are seeking an Analytics Governance Technical Analyst to join our dynamic team at SMBC, where your expertise will help shape the future of our data governance practices within the investment banking sector. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that our Key Data Outputs (KDOs) comply with legal requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Identify and classify KDOs across all EMEA departments.
2. Identify opportunities for decommissioning and deduplication of KDOs.
3. Create baseline assessments for KDOs and identify necessary remediation activities.
4. Collaborate with KDO owners to agree on remediation activities and track milestones.
5. Conduct maturity audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
6. Enable departments to clearly identify Key Metrics and challenge existing understandings of metrics.
7. Establish and maintain a Catalogue of Key Data Outputs, capturing required metadata.
8. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including BCBS239, and industry best practices.
9. Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders, from Associates to General Managers.
10. Proven experience in establishing Analytics Governance or End User Computer (EUC) Governance.
11. Familiarity with governance frameworks supporting BCBS239 principles; ECB onboarding experience is a plus.
12. Proficient in using and configuring cataloguing tools, such as Collibra.
13. Solid background in the financial services industry, with knowledge of data-related regulatory requirements.
14. Understanding of project management principles, including waterfall and agile methodologies.
15. Strong stakeholder engagement skills to communicate and achieve buy-in across EMEA.
16. Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
17. Comprehensive understanding of data management concepts, governance practices, and regulatory requirements.
18. Analytical mindset with outstanding problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to solutions.
19. Familiarity with the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) relevant to analytics projects.
20. Demonstrable experience as a Technical Business Analyst or similar role.
21. Knowledge of analytics tools like Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI, Power Apps, and Tableau.
22. Background in organizations with well-governed self-serve analytics at an enterprise level.
23. Awareness of emerging trends within the Data Analytics landscape.
24. Proficient in using Microsoft Office stack for developing analytics products.
25. Strong data manipulation and preparation skills, with experience in Alteryx or similar applications.
26. Ability to maintain and support analytics products like Tableau or Power BI Dashboards using version control methodologies.
