Salary: £56,000 to £60,600 + up to 10% bonus per annum, plus a company car

As a Major Projects Technical Building Consultant, joining the Major Projects Team, you'll spearhead risk management to reduce warranty claims, leveraging your expert technical skills. You'll ensure NHBC and regulatory compliance, driving complex projects to success and making a significant impact for better standards in the construction industry.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of a multi-disciplinary professional team, ensure key risks are identified and managed to mitigate warranty claims by applying specialist technical knowledge and understanding of failure modes and effects of buildings through NHBC Standards, Codes, and European standards on highly complex, high-risk, and high-value projects.

• Oversee technical risk management of complex new build and conversion projects per the Warranty Risk Policy.
• Manage and coordinate input from specialists as project manager on high-risk warranty projects.
• Check and manage design details for compliance with NHBC Standards, codes, and regulations.
• Review reports and submissions prepared by others.
• Participate in peer reviews and team monitoring. Deputise for the Technical Operations Manager when required.
• Assess holistic technical risks and develop project-specific risk management plans to mitigate identified risks.
• Represent NHBC at external bodies, seminars, and industry groups.

The ideal candidate will have

• Deep knowledge of NHBC Standards and Building Regulations.
• Good familiarity with NHBC’s core systems and programs.
• Experience in customer relationship management and representing NHBC positively.
• On-site experience with advanced housing sector knowledge.
• Understanding of building failure mechanisms and claims.

Education and Qualifications

• Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CABE, MCIOB, RICS).
• Relevant degree or substantial industry experience.
