Job summary

Broadcom is seeking a Senior/Principal Analog/Mixed-Signal Layout Engineer in Edinburgh to implement analog and mixed-signal layouts in nanometer CMOS technologies for custom ASICs. You will work with circuit designers to layout circuits using Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre, and plan floorplans and tapeout preparation.

You will lead layout initiatives, supervise local and remote resources, train junior staff, and ensure design-for-tapeout practices are followed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience layout of mixed-signal analog IC blocks (ADCs, PGAs, DACs, etc.).
• Experience leading layout of analog top levels and large IPs.
• Nanometer CMOS technology layout and verification.
• Knowledge of HV verification techniques.

Responsibilities

• Layout analog and mixed-signal circuits in nanometer CMOS.
• Plan layout schedules and floorplans; assemble top level IPs for tapeout.
• Supervise local and remote layout resources; train junior staff.
• Ensure tapeout process is followed correctly.

Senior/Principal Analog/Mixed-Signal Layout EngineerBroadcom is a technology leader in mixed-signal system-on-chip. Working in the Edinburgh Analog/Mixed-Signal design team you will implement analog and mixed-signal layouts in nanometer CMOS technologies for custom Mixed-Signal ASIC products. Working closely with circuit designers, you will layout analog and mixed signal circuits using industry standard layout and physical verification tools. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of nanometer CMOS IC layout and verification including multiple voltage domain layout strategies and methodologies. You will also be responsible for planning and organising layout schedules and floorplans, assembling top level IPs and chips for tapeout, and ensuring tapeout processor a followed correctly. There will be some supervision of local and remote layout resources and also training of junior staff on layout techniques.

Job skills

B.Eng/M.Sc in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience. Strong experience with layout of mixed-signal analog IC blocks such as ADCs, PGAs, DACs, filters, drivers, power management circuits and clocking circuits. Experience leading layout of analog top levels and large analog and mixed-signal IPs Experience of layout in advanced nanometer CMOS technologies. Strong grasp of physical layout and physical verification flows and methodologies (Cadence Virtuoso Layout-XL, Mentor Graphics Calibre), including high voltage verification techniques. Ability to work successfully with both local and remote teams and foster a culture of best layout practice across our organisation. Knowledge of SKILL scripting, general purpose scripting languages such as Perl/Python, and Calibre SRVF, to improve automation and productivity is desirable. Knowledge of small digital block place and route is desirable.
