Job summary

Trowers & Hamlins is recruiting for a Compliance and Risk Assistant to support client onboarding and AML checks in a leading international law firm. The role focuses on risk and compliance processes and requires keen attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

The successful candidate will assist with AML checks, due diligence, conflicts searches, and respond to onboarding inquiries while supporting the wider Risk & Compliance Team.

Qualifications

• Graduate or equivalent with compliance experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Highly accurate and detail-oriented.
• Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist AML checks and client due diligence reviews.
• Conduct client and matter research using screening tools and databases.
• Verify information submitted by fee earners and support staff.
• Respond to enquiries and provide guidance throughout onboarding.
• Carry out conflicts searches and identify potential issues.
• Support the Risk & Compliance Team with admin and compliance tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and an interest in risk and compliance to gain exposure to AML and conflicts processes within a leading international law firm.

The Role

This role supports the firm's client onboarding and compliance processes, ensuring AML and conflicts checks are completed accurately and efficiently.

• Assist with AML checks and client due diligence reviews.
• Conduct client and matter research using screening tools and databases.
• Verify information submitted by fee earners and support staff.
• Respond to enquiries and provide guidance throughout the onboarding process.
• Carry out conflicts searches and identify potential issues.
• Support the wider Risk & Compliance Team with administrative and compliance-related tasks.

The Candidate

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who is keen to develop within legal compliance.

• Graduate, or someone with previous compliance experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Well organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Confident using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.
• Positive, adaptable and eager to learn.
