NHS Borders’ Ambulatory Care Unit is seeking a motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care in a fast-paced environment. You will join a multidisciplinary team responsible for assessment, treatment and safe same‑day management without admission.

The role focuses on developing skills in clinical decision‑making, comprehensive assessments, and collaboration with colleagues to optimise patient flow and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current registration.
• Experience in urgent medical care or ambulatory settings preferred.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care.
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
• Support same‑day emergency care pathways.
• Contribute to improving patient flow and reducing unnecessary admissions.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service development.
• Actively support patient safety, clinical governance and infection prevention standards.
