Job summary

EMED Group is seeking an Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal) to support renal patients across Guildford. You will join our ambulance crews, transporting patients to appointments and between facilities, on a rota basis with 6 days on and 6 days off.

This full-time role requires a valid UK manual driving licence, empathy in challenging situations, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients, families and staff. Enhanced DBS check will be funded by the company.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.
• Be able to work flexible shifts, including early mornings and late nights.
• An effective communicator in emotionally charged circumstances.
• Be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
• Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).

Responsibilities

• Transport renal patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
• Assist with handing over patients to staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
• Build rapport and communicate effectively with patients and their relatives/friends.
• Support with lifting, securing and helping patients in and out of the Ambulance.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal) to serve your local community and join the Ambulance Service as part of our Ambulance crews based in Guildford.

An Ambulance Care Assistant (Renal), is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.

Your main responsibility will be transporting renal patients to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This position offers an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others while developing their skills within the healthcare sector.

This is a full-time role working 6 days on, 6 days off with shifts scheduled between 05:30am and 01:00am. Shifts will be on a rota.Please only apply if you can work these hours.

To be considered as an ACA, you will need to be:

• Hold a valid UK manual driving licence.
• Be able to work flexible shifts. Our operational hours are between06:00am and 00:00am, Monday to Sunday so you will need to work various shifts within these hours (with notice)
• An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances.
• Be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
• Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).

Other duties include:

• Assisting in the transportation of ‘end of life’ service users, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times.
• Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
• Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
• Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes
