Job summary

Candl Recruitment is working with a specialist SEN school in South West London to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 12 to 16 with complex medical, physical and learning needs.

You will provide personal care and learning support, using positive behaviour strategies and adaptable activities to meet each pupil’s needs. The school offers a collaborative environment and ongoing specialist recruitment agency support.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex needs in education or care.
• Experience providing personal care (toileting, feeding).
• Understanding safeguarding and dignity in care.
• Ability to support individuals with physical disabilities or communication needs.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and follow care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including toileting, changing and feeding.
• Support pupils with complex medical needs and PEG feeding where trained.
• Assist with moving and handling using hoists and mobility equipment.
• Support PMLD, physical disabilities and visual impairments.
• Use communication strategies with verbal and nonverbal pupils.
• Deliver individual and small group learning support with adapted activities.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
• Encourage independence and participation in daily school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and healthcare staff to ensure consistent care.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
