Job summary

Caterpillar in Desford, UK, seeks a Logistics Team Leader to guide a production-line team on safety, quality, and efficiency. You will drive daily targets, coach staff, and implement CI ideas in a fast-paced logistics environment.

This full-time role includes 37.5-hour shifts, a 12-month fixed-term option and a permanent slot, with salary progression from £35,200 to £39,000 as objectives are met.

Qualifications

• People: Coach, motivate, evaluate, and recognise employees.
• Logistics Operations: Possess a good understanding of Logistics practices and knowledge of material systems.
• Safety: Proactive in managing safety standards and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Process Improvement: Evaluates logistics methods and maintains focus on continuous improvement using lean, Six Sigma, and drive innovation.
• SAP and material systems proficiency.
• Basic risk assessments and following safety rules to keep people safe.
• Hands-on logistics or production experience (NVQ Level 2 or above, or equivalent) using standard work and processes to support team performance and CI.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to meet daily goals and continually monitor and audit Health and Safety, People, Quality, Velocity and Cost metrics within your span of control as per business goals.
• Champion safe working practices and undertake training and further learning.
• Generate and work on Continuous Improvement ideas for your assigned area using the CI process and maintain the skills matrix for the team to 100% versatility; ensure standard work is updated.
• Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) for Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost within your team operation.
