Job summary

Bath College is developing an exciting Alternative Provision at the Somer Valley Campus, supporting 14-16 year olds with alternative provision needs. We seek an experienced SEND & Learner Support Lead to coordinate support and work directly with learners in afternoon AP sessions.

The role combines direct learner support (approx. 15-18 hours weekly) with coordinating communications among parents, schools, commissioners and professionals to ensure appropriate support and progression for each

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEND or additional needs is essential.
• Ability to liaise with parents, carers, schools and professionals.
• Experience coordinating support and reviews in education settings.
• Strong organisational and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct learner support during five AP sessions each week.
• Support learners with SEND to access teaching and participate in their programme.
• Build positive relationships to develop confidence, independence and resilience.
• Work with teaching staff to identify and implement individual support strategies.
• Coordinate information related to SEND and agreed support.
• Act as a point of contact for parents, schools and external professionals.
• Contribute to learner reviews, transition planning and progression planning.
• Monitor attendance, engagement, progress and wellbeing, updating records.
• Assist learners’ transition into Bath College and next steps.
• Collaborate with SEND, safeguarding and wider support teams to ensure cohesion.
• Ensure the learner’s voice is central to planning and support.
