Job summary

Elementa Support Services is seeking an enthusiastic ALN Teacher to work in Flintshire, delivering differentiated lessons for learners with Additional Learning Needs, and applying trauma-informed strategies to create a safe, supportive classroom.

The ideal candidate holds QTS, EWC registration, and an Enhanced DBS, with experience supporting ALN pupils and SEMH. This full-time, long-term role offers competitive daily pay (£172.98–£180) and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• QTS and EWC registration required.
• Experience supporting pupils with ALN.
• Strong understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
• Experience delivering education using a trauma-informed approach.
• Experience supporting pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
• Enhanced DBS certificate required.
• Willingness to complete EWC registration if not yet done.

Key Responsibilities

As an ALN Teacher, you will:

• Recognise the impact of ACEs on pupil behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.

• Support learners with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), helping them develop confidence and resilience.

• Implement effective, relationship-based behaviour management strategies.

• Develop personalised learning opportunities that encourage progress and independence.

• Work closely with teaching assistants, ALNCOs, and other professionals to provide consistent support.

• Monitor and assess pupil progress, recognising achievements both academically and personally.

• Promote positive relationships and ensure learners feel safe, respected, and included.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Have proven experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

• Have practical experience delivering education through a trauma-informed approach.

• Be confident supporting pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.

• Possess excellent communication, classroom management, and relationship-building skills.

• Be adaptable, patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive education.

• Ideally have experience in specialist ALN schools, PRUs, or alternative provision settings.

• Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.

• Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willing to complete registration.
