Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an ALN Support Specialist in Ebbw Vale to support pupils aged 3-19 with special educational needs across the school. The role offers 90+ per day pay, 8:30am–3:30pm hours, and a full academic year contract, with opportunities to work across classes and age groups.

You'll join a supportive team focusing on inclusion, safeguarding, and building confidence through tailored 1:1 and small-group support.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN.
  • Willing to obtain EWC registration and DBS.
  • Calm, patient and resilient under change.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support, tailored to needs.
  • Moving between classes, age groups and learning styles.
  • Supporting behaviour regulation using positive and calm strategies.
  • Assisting with personal needs, mobility and sensory needs.
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborating with teachers and staff to create a safe, inclusive environment.

What Your Day Could Look Like
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support, tailored to individual needs
  • Confidently moving between classes, age groups, and learning styles
  • Supporting behaviour regulation using positive and calm strategies
  • Assisting with personal needs, mobility, and sensory needs where required
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create a safe, inclusive environment
Who We're Looking For
  • Confidence and previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs
  • May have experience in support and care work
  • Calm, patient, and resilient individuals who can adapt to change
  • Someone who thrives in an ever-changing SEN environment
  • Strong communication skills and a clear commitment to safeguarding
Requirements (or willingness to obtain)

To work in this role, you must be 18+ and either already have or be happy to apply for:

  • Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • Two professional references covering a 24-month period
