Job summary

TeacherActive are recruiting an ALN Teaching Assistant for a special school in Pontypool. You will work 1:1 with pupils with Special Educational Needs, including PMLD, supporting learning and behaviour in a calm, empathetic manner.

This is a temporary, full-time role with potential for long-term placement. Experience with manual handling is essential, and the school values resilience, adaptability and a supportive approach. Excellent CPD and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Special Educational Needs / ALN including PMLD.
• Must work 1:1 with pupils and demonstrate empathy.
• Ability to adapt to challenging situations and think on feet.
• Previous experience is essential, manual handling experience required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Teacher with classroom preparation and management.
• Listen to pupils to assess individual needs and differentiate accordingly.
• Provide calm, consistent support in a fast-paced environment.
