Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Newport is actively seeking an experienced ALN Specialist Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support in the NP10 area. You will work with pupils with ALN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.

The role requires independence, a strong classroom background, and the ability to collaborate with teachers. An immediate start is available, with potential for long-term roles and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a school classroom environment.
• Strong understanding of ALN and experience supporting pupils with a variety of additional learning needs.
• Confidence working independently on a 1:1 basis.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Patient, resilient, and proactive approach.
• Available to start immediately or at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with ALN.
• Support pupils' learning, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
• Implement tailored support strategies and interventions.
• Work closely with teachers, ALNCOs, and other professionals.
• Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
