Job summary

LA International seeks an experienced UNIX/AIX specialist to deliver operating system support and maintenance for AIX versions 5, 6 and 7 in both physical and virtual environments. The role involves significant migration and transformation project work, with some duties outside standard hours.

The candidate will apply strong UNIX shell scripting skills and support across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates, with emphasis on networking and cloud principles within infrastructure management.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of AIX 5,6 & 7 operating systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain high-quality UNIX shell scripts.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates.
• Understanding of network technologies and components.
• Understanding of cloud computing principles in infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver operating system support and maintenance for AIX 5/6/7 (physical and virtual).
• Lead migration/transformation project work, some out of hours.
• Contribute to secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure delivery.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operating system support and maintenance for AIX 5,6 & 7, both physical & virtual. In addition there will be a considerable amount of migration / transformation Project work, some of which may be out of hours.

Key capabilities required for the role include:

• Strong working knowledge of AIX 5,6 & 7 operating systems plus VIO v2 & 3.
• Ability to develop and maintain high-quality UNIX shell scripts, Experience supporting and troubleshooting across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates
• Understanding of Network technologies & components
• Understanding of cloud computing principles, particularly in the context of infrastructure management and service delivery
