Job summary

Babcock International invites applications for an Airfield Operations Assistant at the Army Aviation Centre near Stockbridge, Hampshire. This hands-on, outdoor role supports safe, efficient aerodrome operations and wildlife management, with duties covering inspections, escorting staff, and equipment maintenance.

The role offers a structured 40-hour week, 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• Experience working within airfield or aerodrome operations.
• Understanding of airfield safety procedures and reporting requirements.
• Experience using operational vehicles or specialist equipment in a safety‑critical environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conducting airfield escort duties across the aerodrome.
• Carrying out Foreign Object Debris (FOD) inspections, sweeping, collection and disposal activities.
• Supporting wildlife hazard management activities using non‑lethal control methods.
• Inspecting airfield infrastructure and grounds, reporting faults and safety concerns.
• Maintaining airfield vehicles and equipment, including cleaning, refuelling and documentation.
