Job summary

Babcock International is hiring an Airfield Operations Assistant for the Army Aviation Centre near Stockbridge, Hampshire. The role supports safe airfield operations, including inspections, wildlife management, and infrastructure checks, in a hands-on outdoor setting.

It is a full-time, permanent position, 40 hours weekly, 08:00–17:00, with occasional weekend work and a requirement for DBS/CTC clearance. UK Category B driving licence and airfield access permit are essential or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Experience in airfield/aerodrome operations and safety procedures.
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment in safety-critical environments.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Full UK driving licence required; valid Airfield Access Permit likely.

Responsibilities

• Conduct airfield escort duties across the aerodrome.
• Perform FOD checks, sweeping, collection and disposal.
• Support wildlife hazard management using non-lethal methods.
• Inspect infrastructure/grounds, report faults and safety concerns.
• Maintain airfield vehicles and equipment; document activities.
