Job summary

Babcock at the Army Aviation Centre, near Stockbridge, Hampshire, invites you to join as an Airfield Operations Assistant to support safe operation of Middle Wallop Aerodrome. This is a hands-on, outdoor role with responsibilities from airfield escort duties to wildlife management and infrastructure checks.

This full-time permanent position offers a salary of £29,958.50 plus benefits. Work week is 40 hours, 08:00–17:00, with occasional weekend work and eligibility for DBS/CTC clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience in airfield/aerodrome operations.
• Understanding of airfield safety procedures and reporting.
• Experience with operational vehicles or equipment in safety-critical env.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Strong communication and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conducting airfield escort duties across the aerodrome.
• Carry out FOD inspections, sweeping, collection and disposal.
• Support wildlife hazard management using non-lethal methods.
• Inspect airfield infrastructure and grounds; report faults and safety concerns.
• Maintain airfield vehicles and equipment; cleaning, refuelling and documentation.
