Job summary

Doncaster Council is seeking an Airfield Operations Watch Manager at Doncaster Sheffield Airport to lead one of the airport’s Watches, providing tactical operational management and assurance for safe, compliant airfield operations. The role drives leadership, safety culture and high performance.

Qualifications

• Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate).
• Willingness to undertake future training related to the role and continue CPD.
• Holds or is willing to obtain training and certifications for wildlife control activities and firearms where required.
• Significant leadership-level operational experience within an airport/aerodrome environment.
• Extensive experience leading operational teams in aviation or safety-critical settings.
• Experience leading a Watch/shift-based operational structure.
• Experience conducting airfield inspections and safety checks.
• Wildlife hazard management and FOD control experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Airfield Operations Team Watch, ensure performance, standards and regulatory compliance.
• Provide tactical command during routine operations, disruption and emergencies.
• Manage airfield inspections, movement area serviceability, FOD and weather operations.
• Direct incident response, airside defects, abnormal situations and emergencies.
• Lead works integration and safe return to normal operations.
• Develop Airfield Operations Officers through coaching and CPD.
• Provide operational assurance through inspections and audits.
• Act as principal Airfield Operations representative on shift with key stakeholders.
• Lead wildlife hazard management activities and lawful wildlife control governance.
• Deputise for the Airfield Operations Manager to ensure leadership continuity.
