Description

Aircraft Performance Engineer –Flight Operations

We are seeking an Aircraft Performance Engineer to join the Flight Operations Technical team, reporting to the Aircraft Performance / Weight and Balance Manager. This is an important role within the department, working closely with colleagues across Flight Operations to support both day-to-day operational requirements and longer-term projects.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for the daily analysis of NOTAMs and AIP Supplements that affect aircraft performance, ensuring operational systems remain aligned and compliant. Your work will include auditing aerodrome and obstacle databases to support the flying programme, conducting aircraft performance analysis for aerodrome evaluation and categorisation, and contributing to the commercial planning process to maintain safe and efficient operations.

When operational risks are identified, you will act quickly to mitigate them through our Safety Management System. You will also build skills across additional flight technical areas to support the team and play a role in cross-functional projects. Collaboration will be key, as you provide technical support to departments across the business and liaise with aircraft manufacturers, airports, regulators and air navigation service providers.

Safety and compliance will remain at the core of your responsibilities. You will ensure the accuracy of airport obstacle data, promote a strong safety culture through timely reporting and investigation of incidents, and uphold company procedures and regulatory standards. Close teamwork with technical specialists in Flight Operations will support excellent service delivery for both the operation and our customers.

Requirements of the Role

What you need to do the role

To be successful in this role you will need to be qualified to degree level, or have equivalent experience, in an aviation-related subject, ideally aeronautical engineering. You should be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform accurately under pressure. Experience working with large amounts of technical data, preferably within the aviation industry, is important, as is the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly and concisely in both written and verbal form.

You will enjoy working as part of a small, specialised team with a focus on innovation and efficiency, and you will be proactive, resilient and comfortable managing a workload to tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment. Experience in Flight Operations - particularly aircraft performance is essential along with proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office and Excel,

Experience with weight and balance or navigation would be a valuable advantage. Knowledge of Python, Microsoft Power Platform, SQL is also desirable and would help you contribute further to developing tools and processes within the team.

Location & Hours of Work:

This is a full time role, working 40 hours per week, based in London Luton. We support hybrid working and spend three days per week in the office.
