Job summary

Morson Edge is recruiting a hands-on Fitter/Tester – Nacelles for the Wolverhampton site on a 6-month contract. You’ll evaluate, disassemble, assemble and test nacelle units from controlled technical documentation, using mechanical and electrical techniques to meet quality standards.

The role involves working from Component Maintenance Manuals, performing functional tests and recording results, and contributing to Lean improvements.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in mechanical/electro-mechanical or engineering.
• Strong hands-on mechanical fitting and assembly experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or aerospace environments; ability to read drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, strip and build nacelle units and sub-assemblies using mechanical and electrical techniques.
• Carry out functional and acceptance testing and record results.
• Work from Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and Product Acceptance Test requirements.

Rates:

• Standard Days: £23.47ph PAYE / £31.20ph Umbrella
• Double Days: £26.87ph PAYE / £35.72ph Umbrella– most likely working this shift

Overtime rates:

• o 1.25x OT in the week
• o 1.33x OT in the week (shifts)
• o 1.50x OT on a Saturday
• o 2.00x OT on a Sunday

What does the role look like?

As a Fitter / Tester – Nacelles, you will play a hands‑on role in the evaluation, disassembly, assembly and testing of nacelle units and sub‑assemblies within a specialist aerospace environment.

You’ll work from controlled technical documentation, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and Product Acceptance Test requirements, using mechanical and electrical techniques to ensure components are assembled, tested and released to the required quality standards.

This is a technically varied role where you’ll have the opportunity to work across different stages of the repair route, with training provided where required. You’ll also play an active part in continuous improvement and Lean activities across the team.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

• Evaluate, strip and build nacelle units and sub-assemblies using mechanical and electrical techniques
• Work from controlled technical documentation, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and Product Acceptance Test requirements
• Carry out functional and acceptance testing using appropriate test facilities and equipment
• Accurately record test results and maintain the required documentation
• Perform processes and functions across the repair route, with training provided where required
• Assess manufactured features and components for conformity against specified requirements
• Identify and report any non‑conformances in line with quality procedures
• Adhere to all relevant quality procedures, processes and aerospace requirements
• Support investigations and participate in problem‑solving activities where required
• Support the Team Leader and wider team in achieving production and quality objectives
• Operate and maintain stock control systems as appropriate
• Safely transport materials, tools and equipment
• Actively participate in Lean Events, workshops and Continuous Improvement activities
• Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance efficiency, quality and the overall repair process
• Work flexibly across the team to support operational requirements

What will you bring to the role?

Essential Skills

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Engineering discipline
• Strong hands‑on mechanical fitting and assembly experience
• Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or aerospace environment
• Ability to work from technical documentation, engineering drawings and detailed instructions
• Good understanding of mechanical assembly and component build processes
• Ability to inspect work and identify defects or non‑conformances
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and workmanship
• Ability to follow controlled processes and procedures
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Flexible and willing to learn additional processes and functions

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within an aerospace or aviation environment
• Experience working with nacelles, aircraft components or aerospace structures
• Previous experience in assembly and test
• Experience working from Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs)
• Mechanical and electrical fault‑finding experience
• Experience using test equipment and recording test results
• Experience working within a regulated engineering environment
• Knowledge or experience of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
