Job summary

Safran Gloucester is seeking a skilled Level 2 NDT Technician to join the Engineering Materials Laboratory. You will perform NDT inspections on production components to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and company standards, in a highly regulated aerospace environment.

You will use MPI, PT and AEI methods, process components per procedures, and support NCR investigations, calibration, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 NDT certification current or within last 12 months in EN4179, NAS410, ASNT or PCN.
  • Experience performing NDT inspections in manufacturing, aerospace or regulated environments.
  • Ability to interpret procedures, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Willingness to work a rotating 3-shift pattern (days, bridging, nights).

Responsibilities

  • Perform Level 2 NDT inspections using MPI, PT and AEI.
  • Process production components per approved inspection procedures and quality standards.
  • Investigate and inspect components from production, test and in-service environments.
  • Support non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with internal customers, engineering and quality teams.
  • Support calibration and monitoring of NDT equipment and processes.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and certification documentation.
  • Work effectively within a team and participate in a rotating 3-shift pattern.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Level 2 NDT Technician to join our Engineering Materials Laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections on production components, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and company standards. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly regulated aerospace manufacturing environment, supporting product integrity, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Resposibilities
  • Perform Level 2 NDT inspections using Magnetic Flaw Detection (MPI), Penetrant Flaw Detection (PT), and Acid Etch Inspection (AEI).
  • Process production components in accordance with approved inspection procedures and quality standards.
  • Investigate and inspect components from production, test, and in-service environments.
  • Support non-conformance investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Liaise with internal customers, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the NDT department.
  • Assist with NADCAP audit preparation and compliance activities.
  • Monitor and support calibration of NDT equipment and processes.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and certification documentation.
  • Work effectively within a team and participate in a rotating 3-shift pattern.
  • Level 2 NDT certification (current or held within the last 12 months) in EN4179, NAS410, ASNT, or PCN.
  • Qualified in at least one of the following inspection methods:
    • Magnetic Flaw Detection (MPI/MFD)
    • Penetrant Flaw Detection (PT/PFD)
    • Acid Etch Inspection (AEI)
  • Experience performing NDT inspections within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or similar regulated environment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting corrective actions.
  • Ability to work a rotating 3-shift pattern (days, bridging shift, nights).
Desirable skills
  • Certifications in all three core NDT disciplines (MPI, PT, and AEI).
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship.
  • ONC/HNC qualification in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience with NADCAP audits.
  • Knowledge of Titanium Acid Etch Inspection and/or Barkhausen Noise Inspection.
  • Experience supporting equipment calibration and continuous improvement activities.
