The Opportunity
Morson are recruiting for experienced Fitter / Testers to support an established Aerospace and Defence Aftermarket programme in Wolverhampton.
This is a hands-on role within a precision manufacturing environment, involving the evaluation, assembly, strip, rebuild and testing of mechanical units and sub-assemblies.
You’ll work from detailed engineering drawings, process plans, Component Maintenance Manuals and Product Acceptance Test schedules, ensuring all work is completed accurately and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, strip, assemble and test mechanical units and sub-assemblies
- Carry out assembly and testing using mechanical and some electrical techniques
- Work from engineering drawings, process plans and acceptance test schedules
- Perform functional testing using calibrated test equipment and accurately record results
- Use manual and digital precision measuring equipment, including micrometres and depth micrometres
- Support hydraulic assembly, testing and fault diagnosis
- Carry out fault finding during assembly and test activities
- Assess manufactured features for conformity and report any non-conformances
- Follow quality procedures and manufacturing standards at all times
- Participate in investigations, Lean events and continuous improvement activities
- Support stock control activities where required
- Safely transport tools, materials and equipment
- Work flexibly within the team to support production requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Engineering discipline
- Strong mechanical assembly experience within a precision manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of hydraulic systems and mechanical actuation principles
- Experience working from detailed engineering drawings and process documentation
- Competent using precision measuring equipment such as micrometres and depth gauges
- Previous experience working within a regulated Aerospace or Defence environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable Experience
- Experience assembling and testing actuation or hydraulic systems
- Ability to interpret mechanical and basic electrical schematics
- Previous fault-finding and diagnostic experience
- Experience within an Aftermarket or component maintenance environment
- A flexible, calm and proactive approach to working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
