Job summary

Leonardo UK is recruiting a skilled FPGA Engineer to join the Precision Guidance team in Basildon. You will develop embedded VHDL firmware for airborne electro-optics subsystems, collaborating across hardware, software and integration teams.

In this role you will capture firmware requirements, design FPGA logic, prepare test benches and documentation, and support design reviews throughout the lifecycle, using Siemens EDA tools and widely used FPGA methods.

Qualifications

• Experience using FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Microsemi (Actel) or Lattice.
• Advanced verification techniques using VHDL or SystemVerilog / UVM.
• Ability to specify complex timing and area constraints for FPGA place and route.
• Ability to analyse system level requirements and derive detailed Firmware requirements.
• Experience with firmware design lifecycle following a structured process (RTCA DO-254 or similar).
• Experience on safety related firmware to IEC 61508 would be advantageous.
• De-bugging firmware designs and supporting verification and integration across hardware and software teams.
• Ability to communicate across disciplines, verbally and in writing.

• System integration with PCB designers and embedded software engineers.
• Support firmware designs through the firmware process with training provided.
