Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in the UK is seeking Lead/Principal FPGA/Firmware Engineers for hybrid roles based in Luton or Bristol. You will lead firmware teams and deliver complex FPGA/firmware solutions across multi-domain platforms, with opportunities for national and international reviews.

You will work with experts to capture requirements, design high-assurance firmware, and drive integration with PCB teams, while mentoring engineers and refining processes across UK-wide teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Games Programming, Physics or Applied Physics or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading Firmware teams or delivering complex embedded solutions.
• Familiarity with DO-254 or similar safety/airworthiness processes.

Responsibilities

• Capture and manage firmware requirements.
• Design and analyse FPGA implementations.
• Produce design documentation for reviews and engineers.
• Develop FPGA test and integration plans.
• Coordinate system integration with PCB designers.
• Support firmware designs through standard processes, with training provided.
• Modify existing firmware and test benches.
