Manifest Recruitment Limited is partnering with a small independent freight forwarder in Leeds to recruit an experienced Air & Ocean Freight Operator. This hands-on role covers bookings through to final delivery, with a focus on Air Imports and close collaboration with the operations team.

You will coordinate air and ocean shipments, prepare freight documents, manage customs where required, liaise with customers and overseas partners, and monitor costs and invoicing.

Competenze

• Hands-on freight forwarding experience, ideally in Air & Ocean
• Air Import experience preferred, with Ocean Imports also valuable
• Knowledge of freight documentation and end-to-end shipment coordination
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and work in a small team
• Familiarity with CDS and Incoterms is beneficial

Air & Ocean Freight Operator

Freight Forwarding | Leeds

Up to £35,000 DOE | Office-Based

We are currently working with an independent freight forwarding business based in Leeds, looking to recruit an experienced Air & Ocean Freight Operator to join their team.

This is a hands-on operational role managing Air and Ocean Freight shipments from booking through to final delivery, with a particular focus on Air Imports. You'll work closely with the existing operations team, taking ownership of shipments, supporting day-to-day operations and contributing to the continued development of the department.

The role will involve:

• Managing Air and Ocean Import and Export shipments from booking through to final delivery
• Coordinating Air Imports as a priority, alongside Ocean Imports and wider export operations
• Liaising with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines and transport providers
• Preparing and processing freight documentation and coordinating customs requirements
• Arranging collections and deliveries, monitoring shipments and resolving operational issues
• Providing customers with regular updates and handling shipment enquiries
• Maintaining accurate shipment records, monitoring costs and handling shipment invoicing
• Supporting freight pricing and wider operational and commercial activities

What they're looking for:

• Previous hands-on freight forwarding experience, ideally across Air and Ocean Freight
• Air Import operational experience particularly desirable, alongside Ocean Imports
• Knowledge of freight documentation and end-to-end shipment coordination
• Air and Ocean Export experience would be advantageous
• Customs knowledge, including CDS and Incoterms, would be beneficial
• Good commercial awareness and attention to costs and profitability
• Strong organisational, communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable managing multiple shipments and working within a small team
• Experience using MultiFreight would be advantageous but isn't essential

Additional information:

• Salary: Up to £35,000 depending on experience
• Location: Leeds
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
