Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Air Conditioning Engineer to join a Berkshire-based MandE contractor operating along the M4 corridor. The role covers service, maintenance and reactive works across commercial sites from a Reading base, with a £40,000+ salary, company van, fuel card and door-to-door travel pay.

You will perform PPM, fault-finding and repairs, with occasional split-system installations, working independently within a two-person AC team, contributing to future division growth.

Responsibilities

Air Conditioning Engineer – Service and Maintenance

As an Air Conditioning Engineer - M4 Corridor - £40K+, you will deliver service and maintenance across commercial sites from your Reading base. This permanent position offers £40,000 per annum plus a van, fuel card, and door-to-door travel pay. Your duties involve planned preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and reactive repairs on various AC systems. We seek engineers with strong refrigerant handling expertise and a full driving licence. The working pattern covers standard weekday hours, with occasional London travel. You will join a Berkshire-based contractor with over a decade of trading history, now expanding its mechanical and electrical division, providing stable, local work along the corridor.

Our client is a growing and ambitious MandE contractor based in Berkshire, with over 10 years of trading history and a strong reputation across the commercial sector. Having grown significantly to a team of over 30 employees and a fleet of 19 vehicles operating across the region, the business is now investing heavily in its MandE division as it continues its journey towards becoming a full MandE provider. The company works predominantly along the M4 corridor, with only occasional projects in London, and has built an impressive portfolio of commercial clients across the education, leisure and office sectors. The air conditioning division is still developing, giving the successful engineer a genuine opportunity to take ownership, influence the direction of the division and play a key role in its future success.

The Role

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to carry out service, maintenance and reactive works across a range of commercial sites. The role will predominantly focus on planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and breakdowns, with occasional split-system installation work when required. The successful candidate will be a confident and technically capable engineer who is comfortable working independently, managing their own workload and taking ownership of the air conditioning requirements across the business. You will work alongside an existing multi-skilled engineer who is also capable of carrying out AC works, forming a dedicated two-person AC team. As the more technically focused engineer within the division, you will have the opportunity to become a key member of the team and help shape the future development of the AC offering.

Key Responsibilities

Salary and Benefits
