Job summary

Trident Recruitment Ltd is supporting an established, family-run HVAC business in Sheffield to recruit an Air Conditioning Installation Engineer. The role covers domestic and commercial installations within approximately a two‑hour radius, with scope for fault-finding and wider HVAC work.

You will join a team that values high workmanship, customer service and engineer development, in a field-based, permanent, full‑time position with a strong order book for the coming year.

Qualifications

• Experience in installing domestic and commercial air conditioning systems.
• Proven ability to fault-find and repair air conditioning equipment.
• Strong knowledge of installation practices and safety regulations.
• Proficient in completing digital job sheets and records on a tablet.

Responsibilities

• Carry out domestic and commercial air conditioning installations.
• Install, commission and maintain air conditioning systems to high standards.
• Fault-find, diagnose and repair AC units when required.
• Work on heating, ventilation and related HVAC systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and health and safety requirements.
• Complete electronic job sheets and installation documentation on a tablet.
• Deliver excellent customer service on site and represent the business.

Air Conditioning Installation Engineer

Location: Sheffield and surrounding areas

Salary: £40,000 – £48,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Air Conditioning Installation Engineer to join an established, family-run HVAC business based in Sheffield. With a strong order book secured for the next year and beyond, the company is looking to recruit a skilled engineer to support its continued growth.

This is a varied, field-based role focused primarily on domestic and commercial air conditioning installations, with additional opportunities to undertake fault-finding, repairs and work across wider HVAC systems.

You will work across a variety of customer sites, typically within a two-hour radius of Sheffield, joining a supportive team that values high standards of workmanship, customer service and employee development.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out domestic and commercial air conditioning installations.
• Install, commission and maintain air conditioning systems to a high standard.
• Undertake fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs when required.
• Work on heating, air conditioning, heat recovery and ventilation systems.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.
• Complete electronic job sheets, service records and installation documentation using a tablet.
• Deliver excellent customer service while representing the business professionally on site.
• Work independently and collaboratively with the wider engineering team.

• £40,000 - £48,000 basic salary, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Relevant F-Gas qualification – essential.
• Proven experience in domestic and commercial air conditioning installation.
• Strong technical knowledge of air conditioning systems and installation practices.
• Confident fault-finding and repair capabilities.
• A good understanding of health and safety procedures and industry regulations.
• Basic IT skills, including the ability to complete digital job sheets and records.
• A professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
