Job summary

Cadence is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer II (AI Systems) in Nottingham to maintain tools, services and integrations behind AI systems. You will keep CI/CD pipelines healthy, manage deployments on cloud infrastructure and help engineering teams work efficiently by evolving shared tooling.

Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS or related field is typical; strong Python/TypeScript skills and experience with Docker, CI/CD and cloud deployments are required.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of Docker/containerisation and cloud deployment.
• Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines, e.g. GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar.
• Familiarity with using and maintaining open-source software.
• Ability to work across an existing codebase to diagnose issues, apply updates and support integrations.
• A responsive, service-oriented approach to requests from engineering teams, with a focus on keeping systems reliable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update software components and third-party dependencies, applying upgrades, patches and security fixes.
• Troubleshoot and support integrations between systems and services, responding to requests from engineering teams.
• Evolve tooling that began in a single team into shared, reusable tooling once it shows broad cross-team value.
• Investigate and resolve issues, and validate that updates don't break existing functionality.
• Maintain and improve build, test and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Run containerised services on cloud infrastructure and keep them running reliably.
• Package, version and document internal tooling so other engineers can adopt it easily.
• Monitor system health and elevate recurring issues that need broader attention.
