Job summary

ElevenLabs is hiring a senior backend engineer to design and operate production safety systems for AI-powered products. You’ll own end-to-end safety infrastructure, deploy ML models, and build scalable backend services and APIs.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Legal and Safety Policy to translate requirements into robust engineering solutions, while maintaining high quality and reliability across cloud-based platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong backend engineering experience, including API design, databases, and scalable services.
• Proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud-based applications.
• Comfort owning systems end to end from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build safety systems: automate moderation, abuse detection, and guardrails across products.
• Respond to threats: collaborate with Investigations to identify patterns and improve defenses.
• Own production infrastructure: architecture, deployment, reliability, monitoring, and ops.
• Bring ML models into production: deploy and integrate fine-tuned models into safety systems.
• Build end-to-end solutions: backend services, APIs, tools, and UIs for safety ops.
• Collaborate across teams: translate business and policy needs into scalable engineering work.
• Shape technical direction: influence architecture as products scale.
