Job summary

Mitsubishi Power EMEA seeks a motivated AI/ML Engineer to join the Engineering team in the UK. The role focuses on applying AI/ML to data-driven challenges for steam and gas turbines, improving reliability, performance and customer outcomes.

You will work with an experienced Principal Engineer, deploying digital solutions across operation and maintenance contexts, and communicating complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, CS, AI, or related field (completed or soon).
• Strong data analysis, statistics and ML technique knowledge.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn.
• Mathematics foundations: calculus, probability, statistics, linear algebra, optimisation.
• CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, parallel/distributed computing.
• Programming in Python, Java, or C/C++.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Pragmatic approach to solving engineering problems and translating AI/ML to practical use.

Responsibilities

• Support development of data-driven solutions for operation and maintenance of turbines.
• Assist Engineering to support Mitsubishi and former Hitachi Gas Turbines and related systems.
• Work with a Principal Engineer to develop and implement digital engineering solutions.
• Apply AI/ML techniques to address practical engineering challenges and improve performance.
• Support deployment and integration of AI solutions across the organisation.
• Assist in root-cause analysis and technical investigations.
• Respond to internal engineering requests using analytical methods.
• Prepare technical docs, procedures and project reports to company standards.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders.
• Support outage investigations with AI/ML expertise when needed.
• Provide technical support to commercial teams during sales and service activities.
• Propose AI solutions that enhance engineering capability and business performance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging needs.
