Job summary

Forsyth Barnes Consultancy seeks a Senior AI Governance Consultant to design and embed practical AI governance across client environments. You will lead a full governance lifecycle, turning frameworks into self-serve guardrails for engineers and citizen developers while shaping a governance control plane and risk reviews with Risk, Security and Data teams.

You will work in a highly collaborative, client-facing role, translating complex AI governance concepts for diverse audiences and ensuring

Qualifications

• 3–4+ years in AI governance experience.
• Strong background in Data and AI governance.
• Knowledge of AI governance frameworks and controls.
• Experience with ISO 42001, NIST RMF, GDPR or EU AI Act.
• Understanding of AI security, prompts and agent risks.
• Data governance knowledge on classification and access.
• Experience with policy-as-code or governance tooling.
• Experience across Risk, Compliance, Security, Data and Engineering.
• Previous consulting or client-facing work.
• Strong communication and stakeholder skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Pragmatic governance balancing risk and business needs.
• Short notice availability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Translate governance frameworks into practical guardrails for engineering teams.
• Embed AI governance policies across client organisations.
• Assess AI use cases for required architecture, testing and oversight.
• Lead AI governance control plane discussions and enforcement priorities.
• Collaborate with Data Governance to govern AI data assets.
• Lead reviews of high-risk use cases with Risk and Security.
• Develop and maintain AI governance guardrails and libraries.
• Maintain AI model, agent and use-case risk registers.
• Embed AI governance into existing processes with cross-team work.
• Facilitate workshops with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Act as SME and trusted advisor on AI governance.
