Forsyth Barnes is supporting a global digital engineering and technology consultancy in London seeking a Senior AI Governance Consultant to design and embed practical AI governance across client environments. This highly client-facing role covers the full governance lifecycle, enabling engineering teams to move quickly within defined risk boundaries.

You will lead the development of an AI governance control plane, assess high‑risk use cases, and collaborate with Risk, Security, Data Governance

Qualifications

• 3–4+ years of genuine AI Governance experience.
• Strong knowledge of AI governance frameworks, controls and operating standards.
• Experience with frameworks/regulations such as ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, GDPR and/or the EU AI Act.
• Understanding of AI security and evaluation, including prompt injection and agentic AI risks.
• Experience working across Risk, Compliance, Security, Data and Engineering functions.
• Previous consulting or client-facing experience in complex or regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Translate AI governance frameworks into practical, self‑serve guardrails and patterns that engineering teams and citizen developers can use.
• Communicate and embed AI governance policies across client organisations.
• Support teams in assessing AI use cases and determining the appropriate level of architecture, testing, oversight and monitoring based on risk.
• Lead the thinking around an AI governance control plane, including requirements, buy/build/extend decisions and enforcement priorities.
• Work closely with existing Data Governance teams to ensure data used for AI is appropriately governed, catalogued and managed.
• Lead reviews of novel and high‑risk AI use cases alongside Risk and Security stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain AI governance guardrails, patterns and best‑practice libraries.

This is a highly client-facing role covering the full AI governance lifecycle. You will help turn existing governance frameworks into practical, self-serve guardrails that allow engineering teams and citizen developers to move quickly within defined limits.

You will also lead the thinking around an AI governance control plane, support the review of novel and high‑risk AI use cases, and work closely with Risk, Security, Data Governance and Engineering teams.

The role would suit someone who combines strong technical knowledge of AI governance with the consulting and stakeholder management skills to influence across complex organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate AI governance frameworks into practical, self‑serve guardrails and patterns that engineering teams and citizen developers can use.
• Communicate and embed AI governance policies across client organisations.
• Support teams in assessing AI use cases and determining the appropriate level of architecture, testing, oversight and monitoring based on risk.
• Lead the thinking around an AI governance control plane, including requirements, buy/build/extend decisions and enforcement priorities.
• Work closely with existing Data Governance teams to ensure data used for AI is appropriately governed, catalogued and managed.
• Lead reviews of novel and high‑risk AI use cases alongside Risk and Security stakeholders.

• Maintain AI model, agent and use‑case risk registers.
• Work with Risk, Compliance, Security, Data and Engineering teams to embed AI governance into existing processes.
• Facilitate workshops and reviews with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on AI governance.

Requirements

• 3–4+ years of genuine AI Governance experience, ideally 4+ years.
• Strong background across Data and AI, with demonstrable experience specifically within AI Governance.
• Strong knowledge of AI governance frameworks, controls and operating standards.
• Experience with relevant frameworks and regulations such as ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, GDPR and/or the EU AI Act.
• Understanding of AI security and evaluation, including prompt injection, jailbreaks, tool misuse and agentic AI risks.
• Strong Data Governance knowledge across classification, cataloguing, quality and access management.
• Experience with AI governance or control‑plane tooling, policy‑as‑code, automation or technology selection would be highly relevant.
• Experience working across Risk, Compliance, Security, Data and Engineering functions.
• Previous consulting or client‑facing experience, ideally within a complex or regulated environment.
• Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to explain complex AI Governance concepts clearly and concisely to different audiences.
• Pragmatic approach to governance, balancing risk management with business and engineering requirements.
• Short notice period or immediate availability would be advantageous.
