Job summary

Nationwide Building Society is seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to turn emerging AI tech into practical business solutions within Customer Operations. You will design, build and deploy AI-powered products using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, and open-source LLMs, delivering real value across the organisation.

The role offers hybrid working across our UK estates, with office days in London, Swindon or Northampton.

Qualifications

• Proven capability in building AI solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Azure AI Search and open-source LLMs.
• Advanced Python skills with ML/AI solution development using major frameworks and tools.
• Prompt engineering, AI evaluation, monitoring and LLMOps with Responsible AI understanding.
• Experience delivering multi-agent AI, RAG apps, vector databases and semantic search.
• Deploy AI solutions via Azure Foundry, GitHub Actions and CI/CD with testing and release practices.
• Knowledge of reasoning models, multimodal AI, and cloud-based AI architectures.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management to translate AI concepts clearly.
• Collaborative, proactive problem-solver focused on delivering outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy AI-powered products for customer operations.
• Develop intelligent applications using agentic AI, RAG, vector search and LLMs.
• Collaborate with engineers, data specialists and business stakeholders from concept to production.
• Create reusable AI assets, frameworks and best practices to accelerate adoption.
