Job summary

Nationwide Building Society is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to shape enterprise AI capabilities across Customer Operations. You will lead teams, define architecture and guardrails, and deliver cutting‑edge AI products using Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI and open‑source models.

You will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with architecture, security, risk, and business stakeholders to drive safe, scalable AI adoption while advancing governance and MLOps practices.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering enterprise AI solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI and open-source LLMs.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on delivery of AI/ML solutions.
• Experience establishing AI guardrails, governance, evaluation frameworks and security controls.
• Hands-on experience with multi-agent AI systems, RAG platforms, vector databases and semantic search.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for AI initiatives across Customer Operations and enterprise AI architecture.
• Design and deploy enterprise-scale AI products using agentic AI, LLMs and vector tech.
• Lead a blended team of AI engineers and vendor partners, establishing best practices for AI engineering and security.
• Influence AI strategy with security, risk and business stakeholders to scale safely.
