Job summary

McGregor Boyall is seeking an experienced AI Engineer for a 3-month, high-impact contract in the UK. The role focuses on GenAI, LLMs, RAG and Agentic AI, delivering production-grade AI across an enterprise knowledge base.

You will collaborate with AI, data and engineering teams to implement intelligent retrieval, discovery and automation capabilities. The ideal candidate has strong Python/SQL, hands-on LLM/RAG/AI Agents, LangChain/LangGraph experience and cloud exposure (Azure/AWS/GCP).

Qualifications

Location: Bristol, Leeds, Manchester or Edinburgh
Duration: 3 months initially (likely extension)
Rate: Up to £800 p/d inside IR35 (via umbrella)

The Role

Major Financial Services organisation looking for an experienced AI Engineer to build and deploy enterprise-grade AI solutions across an Enterprise Knowledge Base (EKB).

This is a hands‑on role focused on GenAI, LLMs, RAG and Agentic AI, taking solutions from prototype through to production. You'll work across AI, data and engineering teams to build intelligent retrieval, knowledge discovery and automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Build production-grade GenAI, LLM, RAG and Agentic AI solutions
• Develop AI Agents and Multi-Agent Systems
• Work with LangChain, LangGraph and MCP
• Build intelligent retrieval using Embeddings, Vector Databases and Semantic Search
• Apply Prompt & Context Engineering
• Integrate AI solutions through REST APIs and cloud platforms
• Test, evaluate and optimise LLM and AI Agent performance
• Take AI solutions from prototype through to production

Key Requirements

• Strong commercial experience as an AI / GenAI Engineer
• Strong Python and SQL
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs, RAG, AI Agents and Agentic AI
• Experience with LangChain and/or LangGraph
• Experience with MCP
• Knowledge of Embeddings and Vector Databases
• Experience deploying AI solutions in enterprise environments
• Cloud experience across Azure, AWS or GCP
• Understanding of LLM evaluation and testing
