AWE plc is seeking an AI-Assisted Software Engineer to join its team in Aldermaston. You will help build secure, high‑quality software rapidly by embedding AI into development stages, working with experienced engineers to learn quickly and deliver value.

The role emphasizes ongoing upskilling, collaboration across platform, data, and adoption teams, and adherence to cybersecurity and governance standards. Onsite work is common.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or related STEM.
• Hands-on software development experience from placements, projects, or early roles.
• Exposure to AI or automation tools in coding and basic data/ML concepts.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
• Formal training or certification in Agile software development or related methodologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms and DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to on-schedule delivery of software features using AI-driven development tools to improve speed and efficiency.
• Ensure code and configurations adhere to standards and pass testing.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams and support senior engineers by taking ownership of tasks.
