Job summary

Gusto is seeking an experienced Product Designer to shape AI-powered HR experiences across HR Assist, HR Partner Console, Compliance Intelligence, and HR Documents. The role emphasizes crafting AI-generated outputs with clear uncertainty signaling and robust human-in-the-loop controls.

You will lead two-sided service design, develop journey maps and blueprints, and collaborate with PM, eng, and data to align strategy and execution.

Qualifications

• Experience designing AI-enabled or conversational experiences shipped to real users, with ability to discuss uncertainty, errors and human overrides.
• Experience in service design for two-sided products with journey mapping, blueprints, and operational handoffs.
• Strong collaboration across design, product, engineering and data teams.
• Background shaping AI-driven HR experiences in a regulated domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead service design for AI-powered HR surfaces across multiple product areas.
• Frame ambiguous problems and align partners on clear direction before data is in.
• Define trust, uncertainty, graceful failure and human override patterns in experiences.
• Co-lead product direction with PM, engineering, and data partners.
