Job summary

Trayport seeks a Principal Platform Engineer to anchor our Platform/Operations in London. The role is 70% hands-on—designing, building and operating infrastructure for a global trading platform, and mentoring the broader team.

You will drive cloud engineering across AWS and Azure, own networking design, and lead IaC, CI/CD, and Kubernetes platforms as products. A strong focus on SRE, AI-enabled workflows, and reliability is required.

Qualifications

• Background in Operations or SRE of highly available production platforms.
• Deep hands-on AWS and Azure experience in a multi-cloud setup.
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, load balancing.
• Production Kubernetes experience with day-2 operations at scale.
• Infrastructure-as-code and automation using Terraform/Ansible; scripting in Python/Go/Bash.
• Experience applying AI tooling to improve engineering or operational workflows.

Responsibilities

• Platform & cloud engineering across AWS and Azure, including multi-region setup.
• Own core networking design across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Engineer high availability, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Build and maintain IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes platforms.
• Define SLOs, error budgets, observability, and post-incident follow-ups.
• Identify and productionise AI-assisted workflows to reduce toil.
