Arcus Search is seeking an experienced PHP Software Engineer with a strong architecture background and an AI-native mindset to join our UK-based team. The role emphasizes embedding AI across the software development lifecycle and designing reliable, scalable systems.

You will design, implement and evolve automated testing and verification frameworks, ensuring high quality and observability. You will mentor engineers while elevating engineering practices to include AI-enabled workflows across

Qualifications

Strong PHP software engineering experience.
Strong software architecture and system design experience.
Genuine AI-native expertise, using AI as an integral part of software delivery, not just for coding.
Strong understanding of testing, quality engineering and observability.
Experience with automated verification and quality frameworks.
Ability to provide AI with context, constraints and feedback.
Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations.
Experience designing reliable, observable and resilient systems.
Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Design reliable, observable and resilient software systems.
Translate business requirements into architectural solutions.
Build automated testing, quality gates and verification frameworks.
Use AI throughout software development and delivery.
Improve AI-native engineering practices and standards.
Document architectural decisions and technical knowledge for people and AI systems.
Mentor engineers and improve engineering capabilities.
