Job summary

Harmonic is hiring a Backend Engineer to join Customer Engineering. You’ll be the technical backbone supporting customers, triaging and fixing bugs, and building tools that reduce manual work. Expect to own small features and automation while collaborating with identity providers and data security platforms.

You’ll work across core applications, identity services, and security platforms, applying engineering rigor and a bias for automation to deliver fast, reliable outcomes for customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing RESTful APIs and service integrations.
• Comfortable operating in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Excellent collaboration and customer‑facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Triaging and fixing bugs across backend services.
• Delivering small customer-driven improvements with a lightweight roadmap.
• Building tooling and automation for self-serve support.
• Digging into microservices and data pipelines to identify root causes.
• Collaborating with customers and stakeholders to plan fixes.
• Monitoring systems to surface recurring issues and automate responses.
• Shaping the function's tooling, processes, and metrics from day one.
• Defining what 'good' looks like for this new engineering function.
