Job summary

Airbus Operations Limited in the UK is offering an internship in the Structures Nonlinear Simulation & Virtual Testing team based in Filton, Bristol. You will join a multidisciplinary group focusing on AI-enabled structural analysis and simulation development.

The role develops coding and scripting skills, works with Finite Element Methods, and collaborates with Test, Simulation and Software Engineers. Ideal for current Bachelor’s students in Aerospace or Computer Science.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering/Computer Science.
• Experience in coding or scripting languages, Python is preferred.
• Basic skills with Git and GitLab.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Finite Element Method is a plus.
• Working with Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Large Language Model is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Explore using AI to improve simulation process and lead time.
• Software tool development to enable our testing and maintenance approaches using coding and scripting.
• Acquire and hone scripting and coding skills alongside gaining knowledge of structural testing techniques and “Virtual Testing” simulations.
• Learn about our aircraft, their design, manufacture and in-service support.
• Learn how Structures Tests are used to develop, validate and certify Aircraft.
• Collaborate with Test Engineers, Simulation Engineers, Software Engineers in a transnational team.
